Dr. Schow’s Success Rates
Dr. Schow has been performing vasectomy reversals since 1996. The total number of vasectomy reversals performed during this time is over 1200 cases. Dr. Schow has follow up a semen analysis on over 1000 of these cases. The success rate for restoring motile sperm to the ejaculate in these patients was 97% if a bilateral vasovasostomy (vas to vas connection) was performed. In about 10-15% of the cases, a vasoepididymostomy (vas to epididymis) was necessary because the operative findings showed that blockage had occurred in the epididymal tubes. In the cases that bilateral (both sides) vasoepididymostomies were performed 85% of the patients had motile sperm in the semen. The number of years since the vasectomy was not as important as the type of procedure that Dr. Schow was able to perform. Dr. Schow has performed many successful vasectomy reversals on patients over 10 years out from their vasectomies including a patient that had his vasectomy 38 years ago. Dr. Schow has a refund program for those patients who fail to achieve a sperm count of over 1 million sperm within the first year after a vasectomy reversal performed at MMHC.
